A coal carrier ship ran aground on Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef, some 50 nautical miles north of Gladstone.

Becker Helicopters was called to assist with the Command and Control of this maritime disaster.

We based ourselves at Gladstone for approximately two weeks and provided

  • aerial support to the clean-up crews stationed on islands, ferrying supplies in and out to the remote area
  • helicopter transport for Government officials to inspect damage
  • general aerial surveillance
