If you are a Careers advisor and you would like a full colour A3 sized poster for your notice board, please contact us and we will send one out - we have added a note below for all career advisors. Are you aged 14 - 18 years and want to fly a Helicopter? How does it fly? It looks easy! I reckon I could do it! Do I need Maths and Physics? Do they drop out of the sky when the engine stops! Are there any jobs? Have you ever asked yourself any of these questions? If you have, and you are aged between 14 and 18 years and have always had a yearning to get into a Helicopter, then you should look into enrolling in Becker Helicopters Cadet/Schools programme. The programme is conducted over a two day period at Maroochydore Airport located on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and is designed to give the would-be helicopter pilot an insight as to what a career in helicopter flying means and what it takes. You will get to fly a helicopter, study some helicopter aerodynamics, talk to helicopter pilots, mix with other students, visit a Control Tower, and a Rescue Helicopter, receive some training books and DVDs but most of all, it will give you the opportunity to see if flying a helicopter is for you. Enrollment early is essential as bookings will be strictly limited. This course is very sought after so we are selective in who can come and be on the course. If you’d like to come and be part of this great opportunity write in approx 250 words why you think you’d be a candidate and what you hope to achieve from this time with us.
Submit them to Becker Helicopters is a VETEC accredited helicopter flight training school based at Maroochydore Airport in Queensland Australia. Mike Becker, our Chief Instructor and co-founder of the company with wife Jan, has been flying helicopters since he was 19 years old and now has some 20 years of experience. He has traveled extensively with his career as a helicopter pilot and has had many wonderful experiences and adventures. Now Mike believes it is time to give something back. World wide we are seeing an increase in demand for experienced helicopter pilots. Since the Vietnam War there has not been a period when helicopter pilots have been trained en mass (60,000 helicopter pilots trained by the US armed forces for Vietnam) and many of these pilots are reaching retirement age and the younger ones are getting a start. The future looks good. Like anything though it still takes hard work and persistence, and even though we can train a pilot in 6 months it still takes 2-5 years of doing the ground work, building experience, making yourself known, along with a good attitude and work ethic that will see a young pilot succeeding. Hopefully if they train with us we can nurture some of this. To this end we offer a two day Cadet program so that those students that may have an interest in learning to fly helicopters can experience some of this to see if it is really for them, and at a reasonable cost. The student will get 1.5 hours of actual helicopter flying time as well as some classroom work, study material to keep and of course he/she gets to mix with other enthusiastic students and pilots. Bookings are limited as we can handle no more than 10 students per course. We will be posting this information out to you as well as you receiving it on the Internet as we have an A3 size poster for your notice board promoting the program. If you have not yet received this and would like to, please email us at hq@beckerhelicopters.com along with your postal address and contact name and we will send it out to you. If you have suggestions or alternative ideas we are always open, just talk to us. We hope this is the beginning of something new and exciting for your school to consider. Becker Helicopters are pleased to be able to offer a two day Cadet Program for those students contemplating a career in Aviation. And their teachers can give it a go too! The premise of the program is to allow those students interested in flying a helicopter as a career to give it a go and see if it is the career they would like to pursue. The preference is for the student to come to us at Maroochydore over a two day period. If your school can muster up a group of students who want to go through the program then we can look at coming to you however distance is the obvious obstacle and if this is to be an option then we can negotiate the details on an individual basis. Numbers for each course will be strictly limited and registrations for each course will close two weeks prior to the commencement date. The Cadet Package includes the following.
If you come to us then we will also provide
If we come to you The money allocated for the above extras will be put toward ferrying the helicopter to your location. (minimum numbers will be required) What you need to bring
A signed permission slip and indemnity form signed by yourself and if you are under 18 years old also signed by your parents. |

Accommodation Accommodation will be provided by us. The accommodation will be at our own self contained pilot house, staying with current Becker Helicopters Students. We are not responsible for the students in the evening as we are assuming they will conduct themselves with maturity and responsibility however we will have an after hours phone number and contact available during their stay. Helicopter Pilots Helicopter pilots by their very nature need to be independent self help type people and we will endeavor to foster this over the two days. If you are interested in becoming a Helicopter Pilot in the future, but for some reason cannot make our Cadet Program, email and we can contact you with the timetable for next year or we can contact you in another 12 or 18 months, or 2 to 3 years, or whenever you wish.
